The Sandman DUO ST is a lightweight, compcat sleep therapy device to help improve comfort by automatically adjusting to patients’ needs. This BIPAP automatically reduce pressure during exhalation so breathing against incoming flow is more comfortable for the patient. Puritan Bennett's FlowSens technology lets clinicians customize inspiratory and expiratory sensitivity according to each user’s unique breathing patterns. With Adaptive Pressure Stability, the devices automatically adjust to deliver a smooth and stable flow to the patient. Finally, the Sandman DuoST device has a backup rate feature that delivers a machine-triggered breath during an apnea or hypopnea. By optimizing patient comfort, users are more likely to comply with their treatment and improve their health.
The Duo ST allows BiLevel users to set a backup frequency, I/E ratio and pressure rise time. Use the I/E ratio to set the time between inhalation and exhalation. As an alternative, set the Duo ST to CPAP mode and turn on Pressure Alter feature which allows users to adjust their pressure up or down 1cmH20 without going into Clinical Mode.
Each patient is different and Covidien has created FlowSens technology that allows you to adjust the machine's sensitivity along with setting the rise time. Allowing you to adjust the Sandman Duo ST to match your apnea needs.
