CPAP Full Face Mask and Loud Hissing Sounds

Full face masks can often produce loud hissing sounds when in use.

Condensation build up on CPAP full face masks results in hissing sounds as the air escapes through the air vents.

A high temperature on the heated humidifier typically results in “rain out.” “Rain out” is when too much humidity is being created.

Besides the loud hissing, the condensation could result in too much water being collected in the CPAP tubing and around where the CPAP mask touches the skin.

We recommend reducing the temperature level of the heated humidifier to a comfortable level that does not cause the problems resulting from “rain out.”
