A mask elbow is used to connect the short tube to a CPAP machine. The mask elbow is a 90 degree angle attached to the front part of the mask. A swivel helps patients disconnect the hose from the mask quickly. The ResMed Mirage mask elbow is designed to be worn directly over the head which minimizes tugging on the mask.
