Criteria We Used to Find the Best CPAP Machine for You

  • Noise Level: Most CPAP machines operate below 30 decibels, basically the pitch of a whisper. However, it is still important to compare the noise level of machines.
  • Humidifier Option: Check to see if the machine comes with an integrated or optional humidifier. Humidifiers help keep airflow warm and moist to prevent nasal and throat dryness.
  • CPAP Machine Size and Weight: CPAP machines are getting smaller and lighter making portability less of an issue.
  • Battery Power: Battery power capability and recharging options are important especially for portable CPAP machines
  • Added Features: CPAP machines can come with many helpful features that make using the machine easier.
  • Exhalation Pressure Relief: Some machines offer this feature to reduce pressure on exhalation while maintaining the prescribed pressure on inhalation. This benefit helps prevent apneas.
  • Cost: The important features and benefits of a CPAP machine should also be weighed against cost.
  • Warranty: Warranties can differ from machine to machine but are typically 2 years.

User Reviews

“I have only used it two nights. Brand new. I find it to be quiet and I have slept better than with my regular system. I’ve used CPAP for over a decade and I like this little guy. I don’t find it to be noisy. I bought it for an upcoming trip to China. I got the battery as well. A camping trip convinced me I needed that. I bought a big heavy battery to run my regular CPAP on a camping trip, but I could drive my car up to the tent so weight wasn’t much of a problem for that trip.” Review by Jeff

“I have been on CPAP therapy for more than 10 years and this is my 3rd machine and the first travel machine. As a frequent overseas traveler, I have always hated traveling with my large machine and all the airport security folks that have to x-ray it separately, swab it, inspect it. But this machine in its case with the battery attached has drawn little scrutiny by airport security. I just drop it in the bin in its base and it goes right through.”– Review by Brian

“I researched travel CPAP machines knowing I would be prescribed one and knowing I had a 7-night vacation planned, so I selected the Phillips DreamStation Go. Can’t say enough good about it. Compact, well-built and functions just like my home unit. Didn’t miss a beat. The tube does not require a proprietary tube and a mask like the ResMed portable.” – Review by Suits Me

“The ResMed AirMini Auto CPAP machine is the best, both in price and performance. I was using the ResMed AirSense 10 for a year, and I bought the AirMini for travel, but I like it so well that I use it at home too now. My sleep scores have improved to consistently over 90% now (including a perfect 100%) over the past 2 weeks. And yes, I did use the regular HumidX, which is very comfortable and produces no condensation in the air tubes. had the best price on the internet and gave good technical support, too.” – Review by Tough Customer

“I purchased my AirMini & P10 Nasal pillow mask from my doctor at the end December 2018. I am so happy with this machine. Small, lightweight, easy to travel with on my motorcycle for long trips. I don’t find it noisy at all, and I think it is actually quieter than then one it replaced. I first used the HumidX disc but have switched to the HumidX Plus, and like it so much better. Nose stays moist throughout the night.” – Review by KevinH

“I have been diligently using my ResMed S9 machine for 2.5 years and I love it. But traveling with it, finding distilled water for the humidifier at my destination (which meant going to a CVS immediately upon arrival) or carrying distilled water on the plane in 3oz plastic bottles was highly inconvenient. I purchased the AirMini within hours of receiving the announcement that it was commercially available. It arrived as scheduled, which meant I had one night before my trip to set up the iPhone app and to get used to the machine. Slept like a baby…. My AirMini has a slight hissing sound. Certainly not enough to keep me (or my husband who is a very light sleeper) awake. I decided to try the regular HumidX (not the PLUS) to see how I would manage. After 35 years of chronic sinusitis and sinus surgery a few years ago having humidified air thru the CPAP is a must. The HumidX works great. Not just well, but GREAT.” – Review by Andra

Hi there! I simply want to offer you a big thumbs up for your
excellent information you’ve got right here on this post.

I will be coming back to your website for more soon.

  • Kate

I read the Philips Respironics DreamStation Go Auto Travel CPAP Machine is actually not compatible with a humidifier and it cannot be added on further. Here it states the opposite. Which humidifier would work for the Philips Respironics DreamStation Go Auto Travel CPAP Machine?

  • Lilo

Question: With the current shortage of breathers/ventilators and intense care coverage, could CPAPS being used (maybe with oxigen generators) in case of emergency to support lung function until IC is available? Is there a principle difference betweeen IC breathing devices and home CPAPs?

    • Chris Vasta

Hello, Lilo. No, a CPAP machine is different from a ventilator and the machines are used to treat different medical issues.

what are your ratings for BMC 2019 MODEL G2S A-20 AUTO CPAP WITH HEATED HUMIDIFIER cpap machine.
