DreamStation Go with Heated Humidifier Review

February 20, 2019 | CPAP Reviews & Ratings |

You’ve been calling writing to us asking for a travel CPAP with a heated humidifier option. We’ve been listening and taking notes. Now, as an authorized dealer for Philips, we’re happy to share some big news. The much-anticipated DreamStation Go with heated humidifier is now in stock. And our team at The CPAP Shop, one of a few authorized dealers for Philips, is here to answer all your questions.

Travel has never been so easy….or comfortable!

The DreamStation Go with Heated Humidifier is the newest addition to the line of Respironics CPAP machines.

At under 2 lbs and sized to fit in the palm of your hand, the DreamStation Go has long been a customer favorite to deliver sleep apnea therapy on the go. Now, the travel-friendly CPAP also delivers heated humidification. The DreamStation Go is taking comfort to unprecedented levels.

The heated humidifier integrates and can be purchased with either the standard DreamStation Go Travel CPAP or the upgraded DreamStation Go Auto Travel CPAP with Heated Humidifier. Current DreamStation Go owners have the option of purchasing only the heated humidifier to increase their therapy comfort.

The DreamStation Go with Heated Humidifier takes tap, distilled, or bottled water.

Go Everywhere, Sleep Anywhere

Humidification has been a difficult hurdle for travel CPAPs. Why? It is hard to fit a large water chamber in a small machine. Philips introduces new water-saving technology in this new model. The new humidifier can deliver a full night of heated humidification by automatically adjusting moisture delivery to ambient conditions and therapy settings. Additionally, the machine includes a heater plate shutdown safety feature. The safety engages if the patient underfills or forgets to fill the humidifier. This prevents dry, uncomfortable air from delivering to the patient.

And the best part? The DreamStation Go heated humidifier is designed to use tap, bottled, or distilled water. You no longer need to worry about packing or purchasing distilled water after you arrive at your destination! This feature, more than any other, truly distinguishes this travel CPAP from all its competitors. It is all about convenience.

Minimal Added Weight

Travelers complain about lugging around a humidifier along with a CPAP every time they travel. To that end, the DreamStation Go’s humidifier only adds an additional 0.76 lbs to the unit. The integration is quite simple as well; remove a side plate and click-in to place. The water tank has a 240 ml capacity. It is compatible with all tubing including the micro-flexible 12mm, 15mm, and 22mm standard tubing.

The new and improved DreamStation Go offers CPAP patients unparalleled freedom. The compact, state-or-art machine is easy to use with an intuitive color touchscreen, a built-in power supply for fewer parts, and an integrated USB port to easily charge mobile devices. Furthermore, for those who lack a power source, an optional overnight, rechargeable lithium-ion battery is a key feature. Finally, this unit is compatible with all CPAP masks and is FAA-compliant for in-flight use.

The DreamStation Go with Heated Humidifier comes with optional sleep coaching.

DreamStation Go Plus Sleep Coaching–Consumers Win

At The CPAP Shop, we believe in putting our customer’s needs first. As a result, we have partnered with Philips Respironics to offer optional premier sleep coaching with the DreamStation Go. Users will receive two phone calls from a sleep coach to assist with any technical questions that stem from initial use. Topics covered include machine setup, menu applications, functionality, humidification, heated tubing, CPAP mask issues, and the DreamMapper app.

“Understanding the nuance of a new CPAP purchase and implementing best practices creates a solid foundation for improved results and a better quality of life. By connecting with experts who can provide tips and troubleshoot problems, we are starting CPAP users off on the path to long-term compliance and success,” said Chris Vasta, President, The CPAP Shop.

Luv cpap shop. Got my Dreamstation Go from you. Hey is it mandatory to use the humidifier? I got one, but don’t enjoy the warm air. Thanks!

    • Andrew Rivenbark

Thank you Phyllis, we are glad you are happy with the DreamStation Go. It is not necessary to use the humidifier, but if you live in a dry area you may want to consider using it. You can always adjust the temperature settings of the humidifier down and see if that is a bit more comfortable for you.

I own a ResMed S9 and were contemplating a travel unit I would use for twice a year (total 4 weeks). After reading the reviews and Pros-Cons, I liked the following features of the Phillips Dreamstation Go:
-Using tap water, eliminating Distilled water use
    – Small portable
    -Rechargable batteries compatibility
..but using only a few weeks during the year, considering the cost, I would contemplate replacing my unit only if a regular home unit would offer the feature using tap water considering the cons of using a humidifier with a travel unit.
    Please advise

    • Chris Vasta

Hello, Bernard. Currently the Dreamstatin Go Travel machine is the only machine on the market that has the technology to hold up to regular water without potentially harming the machine.

  • Steven

Hi Chris, Could I use the DreamStation Go as my main CPAP at home. Would there be any other downsides compared to the home version other than the heated tube? I need to purchase my first CPAP and can’t afford to get a travel and home unit. Thanks for the help!

    • Chris Vasta

Hello, Steven. I can not say for sure if the Dreamstation Go would be suitable for everyday use because it has not been tested in that manner. but the Dreamstation Go travel machine has the same motor as the everyday version. One con is if something happens to the power cord, being that the power supply is inside of the unit. With the Dreamstation everyday machine if something happens to the power cord or power supply, you can simply replace it. One con with the Dreamstation Go is that the battery will get you approximately one night, whereas you can get more time out of the freedom battery with the everyday Dreamstation. You can use any type of water with the Dreamstatin go and you should only use distilled water with the everyday one. If you do not intend to use a humidifier both versions are fairly small.

Is there an HME type device available for this like the ResMed Humidx or Humidx plus? I am looking at getting an additional machine for travel and camping and need some type of humidification with my cpap therapy. I also don’t want to lug around my rented AirSense 10 machine since it does not belong to me.

    • Chris Vasta

Hello,Thomas. You can use the HME (Heat Moisture Excanger)SKU# HD60-2100 with most of the other travel machiens. https://www.thecpapshop.com/heat-moisture-exchanger-hme-for-z1travel-cpap-machine

      • Thomas Nicolai

Thanks. Those Humidx hme’s last up to 30 days and these other ones only last up to 7 days. I just don’t know how effective it would be attached to either my dreamwear mask or my my airfit p30i mask. I have heard mixed bag results about these generic hme’s. I am trying to be as portable as possible on my travel & camping trips but it sounds like my old respironics detachable humidifier would be best. I have found a way to warm up the water without having to plug the humidifier in by stuffing it in an insulated lunch bag with a bunch of hand warmers. Plugging in the humidifier while camping drains my marine battery way too quickly as it would with any other portable battery as well. Guess I will just stick with that with the dreamstation go auto cpap as well. Again, thanks.

        • Thomas Nicolai

Wish there was a way to use the masks that work with the humidx & the airmini with other machines but resmed has chosen the proprietary route with those. What a shame.

        • Chris Vasta

The HMEs last between 7-10days. The closer they HME is to your mouth the better it will work. Thus, sometimes they do not work well if a mask has a short tube.
The manufacturers of the Lithium-Ion batteries all state that the batteries are not to be used humidifiers. According to the BPS who makes the Freedom Travel Battery, “The use of heated humidification and heated tubing will significantly reduce expected run times by up to two thirds in most cases and in some cases could prevent the battery from being able to power the device. To obtain optimal battery performance we recommend you forgo the use of heated humidification and heated tubing.” The only machine currently that is designed to work with a battery is the Transcned365. However, even with the Transcend365 you would only get about 5hrs of run time if you use the humidifier. Without using the hummidifier you might get up to 26hrs. With the Dreamstaiom Go Auto machine keep in mind that the humidifier will not work at all with the overnight battery.

    – I noticed the Go humidifier version has no heated tube, while the Home version has a heated tube. How will this effect users
    – Is there 5 years extended warranty?

    • Chris Vasta

Hi Glenn, the heated tube is designed to help prevent condensation from forming inside the tubes. While the Go model does not have this feature, you can still adjust the amount of moisture coming from the humidifier if ‘rain out’ is a concern. There is no extended warranty for this machine at this time.

Will the machine with humidifier unit plus cords and tubing and mask ALL fit into the medium travel bag?

  • Roland Vance

Can I use the humidifier when the machine is using the battery pack in standalone mode ?

    • Chris Vasta

Hello Roland, No I am afraid that you are not be able to use the Dreamstation go battery with the humidifier together because they would use up too much energy, and not allow the machine to properly function.

  • Randy Ely

I have a home Dream Station that is auto with flex, including a heated tube, and humidifier. I have had to travel with this on flights and cruises and it is a hassle. Can you tell me what the total weight and size is of the Dream Station Go with attached humidifier versus the total weight and size of the full home Dream Station with humidifier? I am trying to determine if the Go would be much smaller, lighter, and easier to travel with? I looked at the Res Med mini but I use a DreamWear mask and prefer not to change.

    • Chris Vasta

Hi Randy! The DreamStation Go dimensions with the humidifier are 9.96 x 5.95 x 2.32 inches. It weighs 2.8 Lbs with the humidifier. Your home model is 11.7 x 7.6 x 3.3 Inches with humidifier and 3.36 Lbs with humidifier. Hope this helps!
