What are customers saying about the Fisher & Paykal Vitera?

“I am a side sleeper and have tried other full-face masks that provided limited comfort and leak control. This mask is well engineered and has a unique design that is light, comfortable and provides an effective seal all night. My sleep and numbers have improved dramatically. Buy this mask you will not be disappointed.” – Review by Mr. D

“Vitera is now my mask of choice. I use a full-face mask and have tried ResMed F10 and ResMed F30. Vitera simply does not leak for me when I sleep on my side. Great mask!” – Review by Marc B.

“There are some very nice features to this mask. The headgear is very comfortable and doesn’t seem to get moist when the room gets hot. Although the sightline is slightly obstructed by the forehead piece, I can still watch things on my phone when needed.” – Review by Ant

I have two new F&P full Vitera M-L face masks now about 3 weeks. They are both comfortable to me and adjust well to face/strap pressure to combat air leaks. On both masks after about 4 hours of use the tiny silicone looking flapper valve starts making rattling noises and wakes me up. It appears to be sticking on it sealing surfaces. Twice I hve washed the masks out with mild dishwashing liquid with warm water rinse, hand dried the mask and air dried all day. When reused they both work fine for about 4 hours or so and start to rattle again. My machine is a Resmed and have adjusted the humidity on both 7 and 8 using distilled water with no heat. There is no condensation in the mask or hose as far as I can tell after checking well. Any similar issues or suggestions? It is annoying as hell when awakened about mid sleep cycle by the mask itself.

I have not had any feedback regarding the Fisher & Paykel Vitera mask valve rattling. If your machine has a heated tube option, you may want to try incorporating the heated tube. You may not be able to notice the rainout, which is the term for water build up in the tube.

I’m allergic to silicone. How can I find a mask/barrier combo that will work?

I am using a Fysher & Paykel full face mask L with a Phillip respironics dream station. I have been having trouble with mask fitting; ie air escaping at the side and the fine plastic flapping. I have progressively tightened the mask which works to an extent but it has became uncomfortable and almost claustrophobic . I tried a sungz full face liner which makes it comfortable but now the dreamstation indicates only a 1 or 2% fit, even though it does not seem let air escape. AHI is up and It is also not showing clearway or obstructive apneas but just a total of hyhyponneas. I check the sizing of teh mask and it is ok. Any thoughts

    • Chris Vasta

Please make sure you are not overtightening the headgear. With that being said, if you have already tried troubleshooting the mask fit and tried using liners, a different mask may be more suitable for you.

I agree with Neil. I am am using the Fisher & Paykel Full Face Mask and have issues with mask seal. My provider has furnished new tubing, new mask with new cushions, and new water chamber. Last night my data was 0/20 for mask leak and AHI of 7.3. What is wrong? I have adjusted straps, taken to provider to check on Resmed Air Curve 10 vauto. Should I try a new mask?

    • Chris Vasta

If the mask fit is not creating a good seal you may need a different size. Here is the Sizing guide for the Fisher & Paykel Vitera Full Face mask. Another thing to consider is not over-tightening the mask. If the headgear is too tight it will cause the mask to leak.
