Philips Respironics DreamStation 2 Auto CPAP Advanced Machine Review
The Philips Respironics DreamStation 2 Auto Advanced CPAP Machine is great for both home and travel CPAP therapy and includes several new features and functions to take patients further with their treatment.

Benefits of Using the Philips Respironics DreamStation 2 Auto CPAP Advanced Machine
The DreamStation 2 Auto CPAP Advanced Machine is 29% smaller and 32% lighter than the original model. Weighing in at roughly 2.3 pounds, this machine takes up minimal space on the nightstand. It can also be conveniently packed in luggage or a carry-on to bring while traveling.
In addition to its redesigned look, the newest DreamStation CPAP has enhanced connectivity, allowing users to pair their CPAP with their smart device via the DreamMapper app and Bluetooth. Patients can also now connect a pulse oximeter to the DreamStation 2 to receive accurate blood oxygen readings.
Lastly, the Philips Respironics DreamStation 2 Auto Advanced has been updated to be compatible with the lightest, slimmest CPAP tube from Respironics – the 12mm tube, which now comes in a heated option for users who prefer heated tubing. DreamStation 2 is also compatible with 15mm and standard 22mm tubing.

Easy to Use Touchscreen
Users will notice right away that the dial from the original DreamStation model has disappeared and has been replaced with a full-color touchscreen. Swipe through menus, change settings, and even read sleep reports all with just one finger.
Ramp PLUS Helps New & Current CPAP Patients
Ramp Plus is among the new features included with the DreamStation 2. As new CPAP patients struggle with adapting to prescribed pressure settings, Ramp Plus eases them into CPAP therapy with a lower more comfortable pressure setting. As they fall asleep, Ramp Plus automatically changes to the prescribed settings so patients stay CPAP compliant and comfortable all night long.
Ramp Plus takes all the benefits of traditional ramp features and adds to them. Now, when patients activate their ramp settings, the DreamStation 2 will remember them and begin each round of therapy with Ramp Plus. Users can set their ramp at a pressure setting from 4 to 10 for a period of 15, 30, or 45 minutes.
Humidification Built-In

Another main difference between the original DreamStation model and the DreamStation 2 is the integrated humidifier. Previously, DreamStation users that wanted a humidifier for their CPAP therapy had to purchase it separately as an optional add-on. Now, each machine comes with a humification system built right in. Patients can dial in their perfect humidifier settings using the touchscreen.
The benefit of integrated humidification means users no longer have to add on their optional humidifier, which can become difficult to pack when traveling. The built-in design offers moistened pressurized air to prevent nasal soreness and dry throat in the morning without additional equipment. The new humidifier design builds on the simplicity of the DreamStation Go version. Just slide the water chamber out, fill it with water, and slide it back into place until it clicks. Patients can easily fill or change their humidifier with one hand.
Advanced Smart Features Improve CPAP Machine Interaction
The new DreamStation 2 offers an easier remote setup using an integrated cell modem and simplified Bluetooth so you can access your sleep data effortlessly. Other benefits of advanced connectivity include:
- Easy and fast changes to your CPAP prescription
- Troubleshooting with advanced Performance Check to get the best operative performance from your auto CPAP machine
- Proprietary personalized settings that let you customize your CPAP experience with pinpoint pressure adjustments that are automatic
Additional Features for the Philips Respironics DreamStation 2
- Hidden cord routing for clutter free nightstand
- Color touch screen to access sleep menus and comfort settings
- Sleek, modern, one-button design

Hi
Does the Dream Station2 have an option to trigger on automatically when the mask is put on ? Thanks!
Hi Amy, the DreamStation 2 does have Auto-on and Auto-off features. Simply put on your mask and start breathing for it to start, and take off your mask for it to stop.
the dreamstation 2 machine is very hard to fill and almost impossible to put lid on water container and back on the machine without spilling it . i recieved the dreamstation 2 as the recall replacement and hate it. my dreamstation pro 400 was awesome machine and i wish i had never registered it for the recall

Is the DreamStation 2 quieter than the original DreamStation?
Hi Barbara, they work at almost the same noise level – the DreamStation 2 is 27 decibels, and the original DreamStation is 25.8 decibels.
In the recent (March 2022) recall by Phillips for their machines due to potential cancer caused by their sound-absorption pads, I see these devices included:
DreamStation
DreamStation ASV
DreamStation Go
DreamStation ST, AVAPS
Does that mean the DreamStation 2 is NOT considered to be a potential cancer risk?
Hi Andrew, the DreamStation 2 was not affected by the Philips recall. For more information, please visit the Philips Recall Updates page.
