Keeping your CPAP mask and tubing clean is an important step in ensuring your sleep therapy is effective. While there are several ways to accomplish this daily task, the easiest and most efficient way is to use a CPAP cleaner and sanitizer. These devices automatically eliminate 99% of bacteria, germs, and viruses from your equipment. Joining the SoClean 2 and Lumin is Sleep8, a new, innovative travel CPAP cleaner and sanitizer.
Sleep8 Portable CPAP Sanitizer
The Sleep8 CPAP Sanitizer is a handheld, portable unit that effectively cleans your CPAP equipment. It is lightweight and compact enough to use at home or on the road.
Purchase Sleep8How Does the Sleep8 Work?
The Sleep8 CPAP cleaner and sanitizer was designed for simplicity, ease of use. Users simply unplug their CPAP tube from their CPAP or BiPAP machine and re-attach it into the universal port inside the bag. Lastly, just place the CPAP mask and hose inside the bag and seal it.
Using activated oxygen, the Sleep8 cleans, sterilizes, and sanitizes the CPAP equipment without the use of water. The ozone cleaning technique disinfects the equipment, eliminating the breeding ground for germs, mold or other contaminants.
While other models use pressurized air pumps and fans to clean the equipment, the Sleep8 is silent. It also has built-in safety features, such as one-way flapper valves and a safety shut-off to prevent the unit from running when not properly connected.
Does the Sleep8 Work with my Machine or Mask?
The Sleep8 works with all masks, heated or non-heated tubing, headgear, or humidifier chamber. It requires no special adapters or connectors. Simply place the equipment in the sanitizing bag and press start.
How Long Does a Cycle Take?
Once you hit start, a full sanitization cycle takes approximately one hour. The Sleep8 will automatically turn off when complete.
How do I Charge the Battery?
Plug in the Sleep8 with a micro USB charger to begin charging the device. It takes 90 minutes to fully charge the device and each charge will last for two cleaning cycles.
Can I travel with the Sleep8?
The Sleep8 is a lightweight, small device that is cordless and waterless. It is the perfect travel CPAP cleaner and sanitizer and packs nicely in your suitcase or carry-on.
Is there a warranty?
The Sleep8 comes with an 18-month warranty for the device, 12-month warranty for the charger and 3-month warranty for the bag. Replacement parts are available at The CPAP Shop.
What are our customers saying?
“The Sleep8 has worked great! It’s small enough to use for travel. I like that it has a battery and is easy to charge. The best feature for me is the size of the bag. Unlike other small sanitizing machines, the Sleep8 Bag is big enough for me to fit my mask, tubing, and my entire CPAP Machine without having to take anything apart. That’s really convenient! When I let everything rest for about an hour after the cycle is complete, I find the ozone smell dissipates well. Overall, a great product!” – Ant on 4/12/2019.

I am considering purchasing the Sleep8……Can I leave the Water Reservoir filled and inside my DreamStation and then connect my Heated Tube (Mask end) from the inside nozzle of the Bag directly to my DreamStation, then connect the Sleep8 to the outside Bag nozzle and run it to sanitize the entire CPAP and reservoir? A friend says I can do this ! Also, will my Heated Tube (CPAP connection end) fit the inside bag nozzle without an adapter ? One more thing; I have an AirTouch Mask with a Foam edging…..can it go in the bag for sanitizing with everything else? Thank you
The water chamber must be emptied before placing it into the Sleep8 bag. ResMed advises against using the AirFit F20 Touch Foam cushion mask with sanitizers that use ozone. Here is a Youtube video showing the setup of the Sleep8 Sanitizer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05D30UgkgqA
I just received my Sleep8 and after using it have strong ammonia like odor in my tubing and afraid to use it now. Also I have mild COPD and worried about using it now. I did not read this information before I bought it about people having COPD should consult dr. I do not have a regular doctor.
The Sleep8 uses Ozone to sanitize. If you are concerned you may want to reach out to the manufacturer at 1(888)-549-9799.
I continue to get a rash on my face around the area of the mask. I never got this before using the sleep 8. I love the ease of the product, but have discontinued usage of my CPAP due to the rash. I was told to wipe the mask prior to putting into the Sleep 8, but still got the face rash. HELP!
Hello, Michael. You should not be getting that reaction from the Ozone. May I ask if you are also wiping down the cushion or cleaning it with soap and water?
After using my Sleep 8 for about 3 weeks , I noticed where the mask connects onto the tubing , there is a oily film. I was wondering what this is.
Hello, Bruce. If you are not continuing your cleaning regimen, oil may accumulate. The Sleep8 is only intended to sanitize, which eliminates bacteria and viruses that could get you sick. However, it does not have the ability to remove physical properties like oil or dirt.
Thank you
You are welcome.
Hello, Lorraine. It takes around an hour for Sleep8 to fully sanitize your CPAP equipment at which point Sleep8 turns itself off. The Sleep8 uses Ozone is known as “activated oxygen,”. You may smell the Ozone but it is not enough to be harmful. According to Mysleep8.com “The “clean” smell that is sometimes described as similar to the scent air after a heavy rain or thunderstorm. In-fact the scent in both cases is caused by ozone. Ozone occurs naturally after lightning storms and is also the cleaning agent we use. If you do not like the smell, just let the tube sit outside the bag for a while. Further, you can run your CPAP for a few minutes before you put it on to further reduce the scent.”
Hi Chris
I’ve borrowed my friend’s Sleep8 – and although I did notice a lingering ozone smell most of it dissipated simply by turning on my ResMed for a few times to clear the machine and tube before I used it again. Better still, I slept well without the usual morning stuffiness after the unit was cleaned so I think it actually worked as advertised (in fact I’ve thought of putting a few other hard to clean household items like a toothbrush to clean as well).
However, your answer about swapping out the entire large plastic bag every three months seems like an expensive and environmentally insensitive solution to replacing the internal filter. To get more details, I will call the representative at 888-549-9799 as you suggested.
But who is the manufacturer? I couldn’t find any website online that purported to actually produce this equipment – it was all just other distributors like yourself.
I appreciate your advice. Cheers.
Hi, Frank. Sleep8 is the manufacturer. Their website is:https://mysleep8.com/
Have you looked into the Clean Zone Now product? the price at $99 right now is appealing…it looks like the Sleep 8….. and if I understand the directions, the hose and mask clean together, and when cleaning the water reservoir, once a week, it is done separately? so the time is doubled? and then you have to let it sit for 2 hours each time to disapate the ozone?
Hello, Penny. No, I am not familiar with the Clean Zone and am not able to advise on how it works.
I have difficulty attaching the hose to the bag. Sometimes it clicks immediately, but most of the time I have to fine tune the hose angle(The end with the electric prongs). Do you have any suggestions?
Hello, Elizabeth. There are is not a required adapter, and I can not currently think of any other suggestions. You may want to reach out ot the manufacture at 888-549-9799.
