Q. Can I use the Wisp CPAP mask with any CPAP machine?
A. The Philips Respironics Wisp, like any other mask, can be used with any CPAP machine. Standard CPAP tubing is used to connect the CPAP machine to the Wisp.
Q. Will this just cover my nose or nose and mouth?
A. The Philips Respironics Wisp mask is considered a hybrid mask. Although the cushion completely covers the nose, it is much more narrow than a typical nasal mask. Think of a cone covering your nose as opposed to a nasal mask which is taller and wider. The Wisp mask does not cover your mouth. The Wisp mask provides the comfort of a nasal pillow mask without the irritation of a nasal cannula.
Q. Can I wear glasses with this mask?
A. The Wisp was designed specifically to enable CPAP users the ability to read or watch TV without interference from the mask. Its low profile and very modest style will afford comfort and simplicity all while providing effective CPAP therapy.
Q. Is the cushion replaceable?
A. Not only is the Wisp cushion replaceable, it can be replaced with a different size. Additionally, the Wisp headgear and frame can be replaced. The Wisp frame actually comes in either clear, soft plastic or cloth. The Wisp is also very easily disassembled for cleaning and replacing parts.
Q. I am a side sleeper. Can I use this mask?
A. Although it is difficult for a mask seal to remain leak free while sleeping on your side, the low profile of the Wisp makes it much easier. In fact, because it essentially only covers the nose, the cheek is free to rest on the pillow without interference.
Q. I have a mustache, is it ok to use this mask?
A. Beards and mustaches do present a challenge to CPAP masks. But because of its low profile and soft, pliable cushion, it will do a better job staying leak free than many other masks.
Q. Does the cushion rest on the bridge of my nose?
A. The Wisp mask is not your typical nasal mask. Therefore, the Wisp needs to be positioned slightly below the bridge of the nose. It is important to determine actual resting place for the Wisp in order to be perfectly optimized for you. Please watch our video at on YouTube and review the brochure in order to fit and adjust your new Wisp mask properly.
Q. I have a pressure of 19, can I use this mask?
A. Yes. In fact, the Wisp mask was designed to handle pressure at this level because nasal pillow masks tend not to be able to satisfy this CPAP therapy. It not only disperses the air more effectively but also helps to eliminate irritation and dryness caused by nasal pillow masks.
Q. Can I return the Wisp if I don’t like it.
A. We have a 30 day return policy at The CPAP Shop. If you don’t like the Wisp, please contact us and we will make arrangements for a new CPAP mask or a refund. Please read about our return policy here.
