Have a Question about this product? Our most common questions can be found below.
Still need help? Get fast answers from in-house experts.
Q. Can I use the Nuance CPAP mask with any CPAP machine?
A. The Philips Respironics Nuance, like any other mask, can be used with any CPAP machine. Standard CPAP tubing is used to connect the CPAP machine to the Nuance.
Q. Will this just cover my nose or go into my nose?
A. The Philips Respironics Nuance is considered a nasal pillow mask. The pillow has 2 small openings that fit slightly into the nostril. The Nuance mask does not cover your mouth. Because the pillow is only slightly inserted into the nose, it will not cause irritation like a traditional a nasal cannula. The pillow is designed to comfortably seal at the opening of the nose.
Q. Can I wear glasses with this mask?
A. The Nuance was designed specifically to enable CPAP users the ability to read or watch TV without interference from the mask. Its low profile and very modest style will afford comfort and simplicity all while providing effective CPAP therapy.
Q. Is the Pillow replaceable?
A. Not only is the Nuance Pillow replaceable, it can be replaced with a different size. Additionally, the Nuance headgear and frame can be replaced. The Nuance frame comes in either all fabric, or a gel padded frame. The Nuance is also very easily disassembled for cleaning and replacing parts.
Q. I am a side sleeper. Can I use this mask?
A. Although it is difficult for a mask seal to remain leak free while sleeping on your side, the low profile of the Nuance makes it much easier. In fact, because it essentially only seals at the nose opening, the cheek is free to rest on the pillow without interference.
Q. I have a mustache, is it ok to use this mask?
A. Beards and mustaches do present a challenge to CPAP masks. But because of its low profile and soft, pliable gel pillow, it will do a better job staying leak free than many other masks.
Q I have a pressure of 15, can I use this mask?
A. Yes. In fact, the Nuance mask was designed to handle pressure at a level of 20.
Q. Can I return the Nuance if I don’t like it.
A. We have a 30 day return policy at The CPAP Shop. If you don’t like the Nuance, please contact us and we will make arrangements for a new CPAP mask or a refund. Please read about our return policy here.

Respironics Swivel Tube with Exhalation for Nuance/Nuance Pro
I own two masks. The Philips nuance pro, gel buds and the Philips Wisp nose mask. Both work as expected.
Pros - light weight, in intrusive, ez to read with glasses, nice for watching TV, easy on and off.
Cons - have to use large buds and wish they were slightly larger. Needs adjusted occasionally because I roll and turn a lot.
The Wisp - stays in place very good, very quiet, great seal, comfortable fit, very soft
Cons - more difficult to read with glasses on, always get an itchy noise, more difficult to get off and on. Les convent than buds.
Conclusion: I haven't found the perfect mask, I doubt I will. I'm very glad I selected these 2 masks. I swap out every now and then both have things I like, both are good quality and work as expected.

I just started using a Cpap 2 weeks ago and I am miserable. Still up all night because the headgear keeps sliding off of my head. I put my hair in a ponytail hoping it would hold it in place but no luck. The small nose pillow is still to big for my nostrils. What else can I do? I am extremely claustrophobic so even this little mask feels like it is suffocating me.

Only reason I use a CPAP, this mask works

This mask is comfortable because the gel shapes itself to the outer(lower) part of my nostrils and the part that protrudes into my nostril does not cause any discomfort to the nostril. To get around problems with movement during the night I do the following things.
1) I wear a snug t shirt to which I have attached a 10 inch strip of --Soft & Flexible Sew-On Velcro.
2) On the light weight flexible tubing to the mask I have attached 10 pieces of STICKY BACK Velcro. Each piece goes at least half way round the diameter of the tubing. This really locks the mask in place.
3) Because my mouth used to fall open during the night I take a 9 inch strip of "EQUATE" clear adhesive tape and I attach it in the center around the light weight flexible tubing at the point where the light weight flexible tubing crosses my jaw below my lower lip. After attaching the tape to the tubing I take the two ends and tape them down on the left and right side of my face. This PREVENTS my mouth from falling open during the night. Finally I am getting a good nights' sleep after 75 years ( I am 79).
( I will be out of town for the next couple of weeks.)

This was the first nasal Pillow Mask I tried, but even the large size did not seem to be large enough..
I also had problem with the headgear not staying in place and I had to get up and adjust it several times during the night.
I went back to my Mirage FX Nasal Mask and never tried another Nasal Pillow Mask.
However now with the good reviews on the ResMed Airfit P10 which comes with all 3 pillow sizes I w ll give the Nasal Pillow a try again.

I have tried all kinds but the nuance seems to work really well for me. I switch between the gel and regular headgears which works just fine. The gel pillows are a better fit than others I have tried. I give it a B+

I purchased the gel frame version of the Philips Respironics Nuance™ and Nuance™ Pro Gel Nasal Pillows masks. I have been using it for about 3 months.
It's fairly comfortable, but the gel frame leaves very noticeable 'witness marks' on my face that last for a couple of hours in the morning. The nose pillows work ok, as long as you keep the headgear tight (see above).
I e-mailed the CPAP shop to see if I could purchase a cloth frame within the first week (maybe days?) of using it... crickets. No reply whatsoever.
I wonder if the owners of the CPAP shop know that I get angry at their company every morning when I look in the mirror, just because no one at their company could take a couple on minutes to reply to my e-mail?
The CPAP Shop Responds:

Yes, the gel on the sidebands are nice, but my straps keep sliding up and off my head as I toss and turn quite a bit. Which causes me to wake up and pull it back on. I never experienced this with my Aloha mask. Oh yeah and I noticed the price drop I paid $159 for it pretty pricey.

The large size pillows are not large enough.
