When and why is the neutralizing pre-wash required?

It is recommended that before using the SoClean 2 CPAP Cleaner for the first time, you use the neutralizing pre-wash to wash your hose, CPAP mask, and reservoir. You should also use the neutralizing pre-wash if you are adding any other new equipment to your CPAP cleaning system. The pre-wash is a hypoallergenic washing agent that is scent-free. If there is some contamination from the manufacturing process or any initial odor, the pre-wash can neutralize it.
